{"id":3973,"date":"2026-08-06T15:30:02","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T15:30:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.arabnewsmonitor.com\/?p=3973"},"modified":"2026-08-06T15:30:02","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T15:30:02","slug":"bangladesh-blasts-india-over-ex-pms-media-address","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arabnewsmonitor.com\/?p=3973","title":{"rendered":"Bangladesh blasts India over ex-PM\u2019s media address"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Dhaka says New Delhi allowing Sheikh Hasina\u2019s media address is detrimental to bilateral relations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Bangladeshi government has reacted angrily after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a virtual media press conference in India, describing it as <em>\u201cdetrimental to the development of harmonious bilateral relations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis interaction by Sheikh Hasina on the Indian soil stands as an affront to the sovereignty of Bangladesh and a grievous insult to the martyrs of the July Revolution,\u201d<\/em> the country\u2019s Foreign Ministry posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>The 78-year-old Hasina, who faces the death penalty in her home country, was defiant on Wednesday, saying: <em>\u201cI was forced away from my country, but I was never separated from my people.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She fled to India in August 2024 after violent protests, which she has repeatedly alleged were orchestrated by external forces, with <em>\u201cforeign mercenaries\u201d<\/em> present among the protesters. The home of former Awami League lawmaker and ex-captain of the country\u2019s cricket team, Skakib Al Hasan, was targeted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/albd1971\/status\/2085037084403011654?s=46\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">petrol bomb attack<\/a>, the party posted on X.<\/p>\n<p>The party alleged that media outlets were coerced into not covering Hasina\u2019s press conference. No major Bangladeshi outlet carried her address live.<\/p>\n<p>The president of the party\u2019s student wing, Saddam Hussein, told RT that Hasina was sending a message to the current government that the fight for democracy will go on.\u00a0<em>\u201cShe is giving an opportunity (for) a peaceful solution\u201d<\/em> to the government in Dhaka, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Bangladeshi Law Minister M.
